The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police asked for the public’s help in locating Daniel Kirkey Tuesday.

Since that notification, police tell BayToday that he has been located and no longer poses a threat to public safety.

However, when asked, police would only say they know where he is, but won't confirm if Kirkey has been taken into custody.

Police also won't say where they located Kirkey, due to privacy concerns.

An arrest warrant was issued after he failed to comply with a Recognizance of Bail.

Kirkey, 55 years old, has 16 criminal convictions, including five for sexual assault with a weapon.

His last known address was in Kirkland Lake and was required to check in with police concerning his whereabouts. When he failed to do that, the arrest warrant was issued.

He left this residence on or about August 22nd or 23rd.

At the time, the OPP said it  had reason to believe that Kirkey may pose a high risk to public safety.

An OPP spokesperson says they will not be releasing any further information on Kirkey, including his present location.
