Rogers Radio has relocated downtown, and paid tribute to one of its legendary on-air people.

The move, from the overpass to 273 Main St. took place Monday amid much fanfare.

And Clancy MacDonald now has the station’s newsroom named in his honour.

“He was a great teacher and journalist,” News Director Richard Coffin told BayToday.

“It adds to the newsroom knowing his presence is there, it keeps his voice alive. His spirit and guidance is in that room.”

MacDonald died in July at the age of 71 after a long and illustrious 35 year career in radio. His wife and daughters were in attendance during the ceremony.

All three of Rogers’ radio stations, 600CKAT, 101.9 The Fox and 100.5 KiSS are now broadcasting from the downtown location with all new equipment.

Rebecca Riesen, who helped make this massive guitar cake, puts on some finishing touches.

CKAT morning man Andy Wilson feels the move can be heard in the announcer’s presentation.

“When you move to a location that is more than just a step up you always see a noticeable improvement in peoples morale, and that translates on the air. It’s a different kind of jump. That’s how great it is”

KiSS morning man Kevin Oschefski agrees.

“When we moved we literally started all over. All of the old equipment got left behind so we now have brand new state-of-the-art equipment. We can deliver a better product on the air. It really allows us to do our thing in the morning.”
