A lot of dog owners will be happy to hear that the North Bay and District Humane Society is intending to establish the first ‘Off-Leash Dog Park’ within the city limits.

A news release says the Board has been working closely with all of its partners to secure a location within the city limits, and its hoping the announcement will also serve as a call to action for the community to help raise funds, provide input, and be engaged with the process.

“The Humane Society has received countless requests to build a dog park and the Board is answering the call for an ‘Off-Leash Dog Park’.  This project is one of our priorities. and on behalf of the Board members I would like to thank the many community partners who have been tremendously supportive and particularly the Dog Park Committee which is working tirelessly to make this facility a reality,” said Chair Mary Davis.

“This is an exciting announcement for the organization that was established in 1954. Establishing an ‘Off-Leash Dog Park’ will give dog owners a safe and secure location to allow their pet to run freely while under their supervision,” added Daryl Vaillancourt, Executive Director.
