A third incumbent has registered to take another run at a council seat in North Bay.

Chris Mayne has served eight years over two terms on North Bay City Council, most recently as Chair of Engineering and Environment Services.

“I enjoy being involved in our community, and especially during this past year as Chair of Engineering and Environment, meeting and working with residents to resolve concerns whenever possible.

The challenge is meeting the growing needs for work to be done in the City and doing it within a cost effective budget,” said Mayne in a news release.

He says North Bay is very fortunate to enjoy some of the best drinking water in Ontario, if not Canada, and he looks forward to continuing to protect our source water supply and see that any improvements that can be made are considered.

“I believe this will be a very competitive campaign and while I agree there is always a need for new ideas and perspectives around the Council table, I believe having a mix of experienced Councilors at the table is also important.”

“Certainly there have been some frustrating issues during the last four years, but when I ask myself  if I believe that North Bay is a better community than it was four years ago, do we have better facilities in our community,  are we addressing our long term needs and spending taxpayer dollars responsibly, I strongly believe the answer is yes."

Other Council responsibilities have included Community Service Committee Vice Chair, DNSSAB Board, Nipissing District Housing Corporation Board, Casselholme Board, and the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority Board.

In addition to having served on North Bay City Council, Mayne has also been involved with the Kiwanis Club of Nipissing, serving two years as President, the Rotary Club of North Bay, also serving two years as President, North Bay and Area Community Foundation Vice Chair, the United Way CAP committee Vice-Chair, Friends of La Vase Portages Past Chair, North Bay Blooms Past Chair, MNR LCC Committee Vice Chair, Friends of Laurier Woods Board, and Stepping Stones Service Board.
