Friends Forever Childcare Centre celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, with over 70 people joining the festivities.

Executive Director Melanie Ross was joined by Mayor Al Macdonald, MP Jay Aspin and other family members in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"We are very excited to be open in our permanent home", said Ross.

"With two young children of my own, I know how important good, quality daycare is. We've implemented a program that focuses on children learning and developing through play and interactions with the teachers."

Friends Forever opened in early August at 1160 Front Street.

It will operate five rooms including a room for infants, two rooms for toddlers and one room each for preschool and school aged children.

Along with its day program, it is offering before and after school programs.

In total, they will be able to accommodate approximately 80 children and will have 15 staff.
