Last call results in assault

The Almaguin Highlands OPP is investigating an assault that occurred on Sunday at approximately 2:00 a.m., in Burk’s Falls. A local establishment was trying to close for the evening, when several patrons refused to leave.

The Almaguin Highlands OPP is investigating an assault that occurred on Sunday at approximately 2:00 a.m., in Burk’s Falls.

A local establishment was trying to close for the evening, when several patrons refused to leave. 

When staff attempted to get the patrons out, a man, helping staff remove the customers was assaulted.

Police arrested and charged two men, Ryan Cutrara, 23 of North Bay, with assault with a weapon and Mike Thorne, 28 of Armour Township.

Both accused were released from police custody and are to appear in court in Sundridge, on Thursday, October 9.

OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in this investigation.  Anyone who may have witnessed the assault is asked to contact the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.

Meanwhile, OPP say another assault took place Saturday at approximately 10:30 p.m., in Sundridge.

Police were called to the scene after an unknown suspect had approached the victim on Main Street in Sundridge. 

The suspect was talking to the victim when he assaulted him.

The victim was taken to hospital by Emergency Medical Services where he was treated and released.

OPP is also asking for the public’s assistance in this investigation.
