Derek Elliott, who ran for the Ontario Libertarian Party in the last election, has filed his nomination papers to run for city council in North Bay.

In a news release Elliott maintaians his message of less government spending and lower taxes have resonated with the people in North Bay.

"Since the end of the provincial election, a great deal of North Bay residents have come up and asked me to run for city council", said Elliott. "People are tired of constantly seeing city project after city project being mismanaged."

Elliott believes he is the only candidate that can offer a new, unique voice on City Council.

"For too long, city council has been made up of people who are willing to change their stance based on how the wind is blowing. If elected, people will always know where I stand and how I will vote."

Running on a platform of no tax increases and no increases in overall spending, Elliott believes the City is ready for a change.

"People have left North Bay for the outlying areas in order to escape the ever increasing property taxes that eat away at their hard earned dollars, the bleeding has to stop and it has to stop now."
