Life jackets save two, but another missing

Another lifejacket lesson with tragic results , this time near Parry Sound. West Parry Sound OPP were called to a boating accident on the French River at Recollet Falls in the French River Provincial Park yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:45.

 

Another lifejacket lesson with tragic results, this time near Parry Sound.

West Parry Sound OPP were called to a boating accident on the French River at Recollet Falls in the French River Provincial Park yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:45.

Two men and a 10 year old boy were in a canoe on the river. 

The men were trying to paddle the canoe in quick-moving water, when the canoe capsized throwing all three into the river.

The one adult and child whom were both wearing life jackets were pulled from the water by passers-by who witnessed the accident.

The other man, who was not wearing a life jacket, is still missing.

OPP completed a shoreline search, and are still searching the water. 

Attending units were West Parry Sound OPP, North East Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Sudbury Ambulance, Ornge Helicopter, Henvey Inlet First Nation Volunteer Fire and Britt Volunteer Fire, French River Park Warden and Sudbury Ministry of Natural Resources.
