Mattawa will be getting a lift this winter...in fact several lifts as Mt. Antoine re-opens to the public.

A news conference is scheduled Friday to make the "important" announcement.

The announcement will take place on the main stage at Mattawa Voyageur Days, says a news release from Jeff McGirr, the Director of Economic Development.

It's expected there will be a four-season element to the complex this time, also involving the numerous trail systems, hiking, lodging and four-wheeling that surround the town.

The idea is to take down the two existing lifts and put in a new high speed quad lift.

It's expected it will take in the range of four million dollars to get the project off the ground, including funding from other levels of government.

Mount Antoine is a 630 Vertical foot hill just north of Mattawa.

It closed 14 years ago.

The property was reportedly sold for $400,000 to a Toronto investor and Mattawa Town Council last year approved in principle a $100,000 contribution to show its support for the reopening of the ski hill.

Efforts to revive the ski hill have been underway for a couple of years, and the announcement was almost made last year.
