Saturday was a perfect evening for summer BBQs in a Ski Club area neighbourhood.

Next door neighbours each had their own family and friends over for separate get-togethers.

Perfect that is, until a heated exchange between the two parties over noise issues led to a violent response.

So violent in fact, one man has been charged with assault.

It happened around 9:30 p.m., as North Bay Police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding this disturbance between neighbours on Aberdeen Avenue.

A witness told BayToday that the argument started when one neighbour complained the other had two motor homes parked on the road.  The elderly neighbour told his neighbour this isn't a trailer park.  Witnesses say baseball bats were pulled out and one man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police investigated, then arrested and charged 36-year old Raymond Thomas of Hamilton, Ontario with assault causing bodily harm.

Thomas was released on recognizance and undertaking conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday September 2nd. Police are continuing the investigation.

Meanwhile over the weekend, the North Bay Police responded to 237 calls for service that resulted in 18 arrests.

Offences included public intoxication, impaired driving, domestic assault, possession of marijuana, criminal harassment, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, warrants and various breaches.
