Business was brisk for the ‘Motorcycle Ride for Dad’ crew Saturday, as they hosted the 3rd Annual Telus Motorcycle Ride for Dad Car Wash and Barbeque fundraiser.

Organizers say the carwash, a precursor to the 7th annual motorcycle poker run next Saturday, serves as an opportunity for the group to touch base with the public and talk about their primary goal - men getting checked for prostate cancer.

“This weekend is about, not so much just washing cars, it’s about raising awareness,” says event organizer Chopper Cameron.

“We appreciate the donation, but we also appreciate they’re supporting our cause.”

“When people see the Ride for Dad logo maybe that triggers somebody, and that somebody will go and get checked," says Cameron.

"And you know what they find out just in time, and he’ll be like myself seven years later saying ‘wow’ hope I don’t have to go through that again.”

"I’m testament to the fact that if you get out there, and if it’s diagnosed early enough, there are treatments available that life goes on," states Cameron.

Registration for the ride kicks off Saturday, June 14th from 8:00 until 10:00am in the Canadian Tire parking lot at 890 McKeown Avenue.

The parade departs the lot at 10:30 am sharp.
