Legion Branch 23 is hunting for new digs

Tuesday, May 27, 2014   by: Kate Adams

Dwindling membership and high maintenance costs have forced the members of Legion Branch 23 on First Avenue West to start hunting for new digs.

In the past 25 years membership has gone from 1,500 to 500 couple that with skyrocketing utility costs has left the organization with little choice.

This news came following a membership meeting on Sunday.

Rogers Radio reports that the membership 92 voted in favour of the move, 8 voted against the move and one member abstained.

Moving forward the group has struck two committees a search committee dedicated to finding the new location and a Real Estate committee dedicated to see the sale of the old building and the purchase of a new one.

Officials say all booking will be kept and the association will continue to take bookings while the search is on for a new location.
