There will be lots of action during this Civic holiday long weekend as the Downtown Improvement Area joins with Summer in the Park for one giant party.

This is the 15th consecutive year the downtown has put on a Heritage Day's Weekend Festival, and there are plenty of diverse events planned.

"With the city's Summer in the Park now on our doorstep, we decided to amp it up," said DIA Executive Director Jeff Serran.

New events include a "Rage in a Cage" dodge ball tournament, which is expected to attract five thousand spectators.

Cecil's will partner with the OHL Eastern Conference Champion Battalion to host a "Sticks on the Bricks" 3 on 3 street hockey tournament.

A Weekend Bash will feature a "foam party" and the  Bud Big Rig Party.

Cheapskates will hold the "Mayhem on Main" dirt jumping bike competition, while downtown merchants will hold a "Moonlight Madness" sales event.

All events are free to spectators.

"Wristband or no wristband, everyone is welcome," added Serran.
