Wind warning in effect for the area

Friday, February 21, 2014   by: Kate Adams

As of 3:46 PM EST Friday, Environment Canada issued a wind warning for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River.

Very strong winds with 90 km/h gusts expected tonight.

These winds are strong enough to cause some tree damage which may lead to some power outages. Driving conditions will also be difficult especially for those travelling on highways subject to strong cross winds.

Driving conditions will become hazardous due to accumulating snow on roads, along with very low visibilities in areas of heavier snow and blowing snow.

Travellers are urged to adjust or postpone their plans accordingly. If travel is necessary, check highway conditions and possible highway closures before departing.
