Almaguin OPP investigating a fatal snowmobile collision

MCMURRICH/MONTEITH TWP - The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal snowmobile collision that occurred on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at approximately 9:45a.m. 

The operator was snowmobiling on groomed Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail 711on Harrison Lake Road, McMurrich/Monteith Township when his snowmobile struck a tree.

The Almaguin Highlands OPP, North East Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI), Parry Sound Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and the McMurrich/Monteith Fire Department attended the location of the collision where the victim was pronounced deceased. 

Speed was determined to be a factor in the collision.

A post mortem is scheduled for Herb BISHOP (56) of Paris, Ontario on Monday February 10, 2014.
