NORTH BAY – North Bay will be one of eight Ontario cities to host pre-budget consultations as organized by the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs this month, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli confirmed today.

The North Bay hearing will be Wednesday, January 22 at the Best Western on Lakeshore Drive.

Fedeli, who is the Ontario PC lead member of the Committee, says there will also be pre-budget presentations in Toronto, Oakville, Kitchener, Peterborough, Thunder Bay, Sarnia and Kingston during the weeks of January 13 and 20.

“The government is considering several new tax hikes that will impact Ontarians, from a 10-cent-a-litre gas tax hike to pay for Toronto transit, to a new payroll tax for employers and employees in the form of a separate Ontario Pension Plan,” Fedeli said.

“It’s crucial that all voices from Nipissing are heard by the Finance Minister before he delivers his budget this spring.”

To book an in-person presentation, you must contact the Committee Clerk at (416) 325-3526 by noon on January 9. Written submissions can be mailed to the Committee at 99 Wellesley St. W., Room 1405, Whitney Block Queen’s Park Toronto, ON, M7A 1A2.

Feedback can also be dropped off at Fedeli’s constituency office at 165 Main St. E. in North Bay during regular business hours, or e-mailed anytime to [email protected]. Fedeli plans to present any input he receives in the Legislature when it resumes sitting in February.

“Given the serious fiscal situation Ontario finds itself in, it is imperative that residents of Nipissing take this opportunity to voice their opinions.”
