One hundred and seventy JK and SK students descended upon Chippewa to share in Christmas festivities, carols, hot chocolate and to combine their food drive items with those collected by the students at Chippewa in their annual food drive.

The two schools have been collecting for weeks in order to fill the shelves of the North Bay Salvation Army before Christmas.

This year they stockpiled enough to fill Santa’s sleigh.

Raiders have been collecting for the Salvation Army for 30 years.

“We are the only high school to collect specifically for them and they really rely on our donations to stock their shelves,” says Shira Rosoph, co-leader of the event.

“They do a lot for Chippewa throughout the school year by providing lunches for those in need of one, we just want to keep supporting them.

They also provide food for people in North Bay and surrounding areas.”

This year Chippewa Student Council also raised another $300 dollars to go with the food.

“It should go a long way to purchasing needed items just before the holidays,” commented Evern Tuncali, Co-lead on the event.

“We haven’t had a cash donation to go along with the food items in the past, we are really proud of our students this year.”
