CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES - Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are presently investigating a double fatal motor vehicle collision involving an automobile and a tractor trailer unit which occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on December 18, 2013.
The collision occurred on Highway 11 at Highway 558 junction in Haileybury, Ontario. The tractor trailer unit was northbound on Highway 11 when the automobile with 5 occupants attempted to cross the highway.
Two passengers in the automobile, Shaylee BEAULIEU-L’HEUREUX, 16, of New Liskeard and Emily MACKEWN, 17, of Haileybury have been pronounced dead.
The driver and two other passengers were transported by ambulance to the hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators, OPP Reconstructionist and the North Bay Identification Unit are assisting with this collision.
The Temiskaming Shores Fire Department also attended the scene.
Highway #11 has been re-opened in both directions as the investigation into the collision continues. Further details will be released once they become available.
