New chair and vice chair for the Near North District School Board

At the Annual Organizational Meeting of the Near North District School Board on December 17, 2013, David Thompson was elected to the position of Chair of the Board.

Mr. Thompson has served as a Trustee since 2006 and served three consecutive years as Vice-Chair.

Trustee Jeff Serran was acclaimed for his first one year term as Vice-Chair.

Mr. Serran has served on the Board as a Trustee since 2010.

The Near North District School Board provides education for more than 10,000 students in numerous communities across a wide geographic region.

The Board operates 41 schools including 7 secondary schools and community education programs.

The Board of Trustees is comprised of 8 elected trustees, a First Nations representative elected by First Nations in the area and a student representative elected by the Student Senate of the Board.
