Traffic stop results in a number of charges

OPP News Release ***** MATTAWA – On December 16, 2013 at approximately 1:20 p.m. while on general patrol, an officer of the Mattawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township.

MATTAWA – On December 16, 2013 at approximately 1:20 p.m. while on general patrol, an officer of the Mattawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township. 

As a result of police investigation the driver, Mathew Murray, 27 years old, of Ottawa was charged with the following:

  • Traffick Schedule II Substance- Cannabis Marihuana under 3 kilograms-sec 5(1)  of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the purpose schedule II under 3 kg- sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, sec. 249(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 sec 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Mattawa on January 15, 2014.
