At Thursday's board meeting, the directors of the 2014 North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce board elected Derek Shogren as the President for a second term.

The election sees the following join Shogren on the Executive for 2014:

Shogren has been on the Chamber board for more than twelve years and has been an advocate for business and the community.

Shogren was described as a great leader who doesn’t play politics and tells it like it is.  Shogren stated.

“I will continue to advocate on behalf of the Chamber and forge new partnerships in the region.  Partnerships are critical to move forward in creating economic opportunities for the business community.”

While he acknowledges that the position is time consuming, he stated “I accept the challenge and I truly believe that the Chamber is the most important and influential organization in our area.”

The new board for 2014 also includes directors: Tanya Bedard, Karen Chamberlain, Gisele Cousineau, Paul Daigle, Carrie Delongchamp, Brad Gavan, Anna Iati, Mark King, Lucie Laperriere, Chris Minor, Sharon Mosley-Williams, Darren Patey, Cliff Pilon, Susan Ray, Peter Rooney, Kyle Selle, Denise Sherritt, Irene Smit, Crystal Thompson and Kelly Wallace.

All directors are elected by the membership, and were announced at the Chamber AGM this past November.
