We have commenced a complete review and audit by KPMG for the Memorial Gardens renovations that will include complete access to all emails, documentation, and Minutes of meetings.
This audit will include interviews of all staff members, project managers, contractors, architects, finance and everyone attached to the file.
There are questions that need to be answered and the public deserves to know the truth.
The outcome of the audit will be made public on December 23rd at a Special Meeting of Council.
The auditor has been given unfettered access to all information requested. Mayor and Council have taken decisive action and have operated in an open and transparent manner.
“The community deserves the truth and facts. We need to gather the facts in this process and answer the many valid and good questions being asked. The audit will answer these questions for us and for the community,” stated Mayor Al McDonald.
“I realize it is normal reaction to point fingers and start the blame game, but this is not helpful and I ask for the community to resist the temptation. It is normal to feel upset and concerned. We must make decisions based on facts, not rumors. I ask the community to have patience until the results of the audit are made public.”
