The Mayor and Council have formally engaged KPMG to do a complete review and audit of the Memorial Gardens renovations this morning.
Mayor McDonald has called a Special Meeting of Council for Monday, December 23rd to receive the audit findings.
“I met with KPMG auditor Oscar Poloni today to formalize the engagement of KPMG for a complete review and audit of the Memorial Gardens renovations. The audit has started immediately.” stated Mayor Al McDonald.
“KPMG has been given unfettered access to all staff, project managers, contractors, architects, finance, or anyone attached to this file.
They will have access to emails, documents, minutes of any meetings, and all information requested. To be clear, it is Mayor and Council that have engaged and hired KPMG, not staff.
We have taken decisive action and we have operated in an open and transparent manner and will continue to do so. The community deserves the truth and facts.”
Points:
1)KPMG has been formally engaged by Mayor and Council this morning.
2)KPMG has been given unfettered access to all staff, project managers, contractors, architects, finance, and anyone attached to this file. They will have access to all emails, documents and Minutes of all meetings.
3) Interviews with staff will start Monday, December 16th.
4) Oscar Poloni will lead the audit himself with members of his staff.
5) The Mayor has called a Special Meeting of Council on Monday, December 23rd at 5:00 p.m. for Council to hear and be presented with KPMG’s findings.
6)The auditor will report directly back to Mayor and Council.
