During the week of November 22-28 the West Nipissing Police Service logged 176 calls for service. 

Among those were 35 Police Assistance calls, 30 9-1-1 calls, 29 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 6 Alarms, 2 Drug Offences, 2 Domestic Disputes, 1 Assault and 1 Harassment call.

On Nov. 22nd, a walk-in complaint was received at the WNPS stating that her ex-boyfriend had broken her cell phone. 

Further information was received from the female victim that earlier this day and argument started and at one point the ex-boyfriend had broken her cell phone and threw it in the toilet. 

The 17 year old accused was later arrested and charged with Domestic Mischief and Breach of Recognizance. 

He was kept in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

A 16 year old male and a 57 year old female were both charged with one count each of Assault Causing Bodily Harm after a call was received from a male stating that he had been assaulted by two people. 

The victim said that on Nov. 22nd he was woken up by someone knocking at this door and when he opened it, he observed both accused which is when an argument started escalating to the point that the female allegedly bit his chest and that male hit him in the head with an unknown object causing a large cut and bruising to his right eye area. 

Both accused were eventually located and subsequently charged and later released on a Promise To Appear and Undertaking with conditions not to communicate with the victim.

On Nov. 25th, a Levesque St resident called the WNPS to report that sometime overnight someone stole a park bench that was located in his front lawn. 

The bench is described as being approx. 4’ in length with 2” lats made of wood and has metal ends. 

There are no suspects at this time.

On Nov. 27th, WNPS officers were conducting a RIDE program in the town of Verner when a vehicle was stopped. 

While speaking with the driver, the officer smelled the odor of freshly burnt marijuana. 

The driver was detained and admitted to consuming a marijuana cigarette. 

The driver was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and released on an Appearance Notice.

On Nov. 27th, the WNPS received a call asking to check on the wellbeing of a male who was staying at a residence on Evansville Dr. 

The officer was advised by the complainant that the 60 year old male was suffering from dementia and had met a female on “SUGAR DADDY.COM” and since then he was cashing in a large amount of money out from his retirement earnings and was in the process of buying a house in Sturgeon Falls. 

Upon arriving at the residence, the officer met with the victim and was told to get him out of the house because he wanted to go back home to Ottawa and be with his family. 

He also told police that the female would not let him leave the residence. 

A female was located inside the residence and was asked to provide the victim’s credit cards, cell phone and vehicle keys. 

The 50 year old Evansville Dr resident was then arrested and charged with Forcible Confinement, Theft Under $5000, Mischief, 2 X Obstruct Peace Officer, and Fraud Over $5000. 

She is being held in custody until the investigation is completed.
