EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP – The members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have received multiple complaints over the past several years of trespassers using the Wasi Cross Country Ski Club trails.

The Wasi Cross Country Ski Club is located on Lake Nosbonsing Road in East Ferris Township and holds a land use permit from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) allowing them exclusive use of the trail system from November 1 to April 15 of every year.

The trails are on crown land and hunters and outdoor enthusiasts are permitted to use the trails outside of that time frame.

The club is working hard to get the trails ready and groomed for their upcoming cross country ski season and have encountered many hurdles and financial burdens when the trails are damaged by ATVs.

There is signage posted in all areas of the trails warning everyone that no ATVs of any kind are permitted on the trails.

The OPP is asking everyone to obey the land use permit and to not trespass on the property.

Enforcement will be stepped up to include charges under the Trespass to Property Act to anyone caught using the Wasi Cross Country Ski Club trails for anything other than lawful activity hosted by the club.
