North Bay Hydro’s Social Committee made a generous donation to the Canadian Cancer Society at this year’s DIA Downtown Christmas Walk on November 22, 2013.

Among the hundreds of people who lined up to enjoy a sky-high view of the downtown from one of North Bay Hydro’s bucket trucks while being treated to hot chocolate and popcorn; North Bay Hydro Social Committee President Wally Lott presented a cheque for $2,600 to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“We are pleased to be able to make this donation; knowing that these funds will be put towards the North Bay Unit office’s Transportation program”, said Wally Lott.

“North Bay Hydro is a firm believer in being great community partners. Our Social Committee never hesitates to step up anytime we can help service providers like the Canadian Cancer Society continue the great work they do,” added Lott.

“The Canadian Cancer Society’s fundraising efforts are ongoing, as the need for our services increases year-to-year.  In 2012 the patient-to-treatment transportation program had 327 local patients receive assistance with 2,338 trips to their cancer related appointments,” shared Andrew Layne, Manager, Canadian Cancer Society North Bay Unit office.

“It is through the generous support of community partners like North Bay Hydro’s Social Committee that the Cancer Society is able to continue this program.”
