The North Bay Public Library Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ravil Veli to the position of Chief Executive Ofñcer (CEO)lChief Librarian, North Bay Public Library, effective February 4, 2014.
On December 31, 2013, after 30 years of dedicated service, retiring CEO/Chief Librarian Mr. Paul Walker leaves the North Bay Public Library in excellent shape. "Under Mr. Walker’s leadership the library has seen many significant changes and improvements. His presence will continue to be felt here and throughout the community", said Board Chairl Jan Perfect. “The Board extends its best wishes to Mr. Walker for a very happy retirement."
Mr. Veli holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from McGill University.
A Canadian citizen, Mr. Veli has spent the last 15 years working in leadership positions in college and university libraries in the United States. Mr. Veli is currently Library Director at Norwich University in Vermont, where his focus has been on the enhancement of information literacy instructionl client-centred renovationlrenewal plans and the digitization of Norwich's archival resources.
Mr. Veli brings a depth of experience include developing collaborative partnerships, leading a multi-million dollar library renovationfconstruction project. and introducing a variety of library automation initiatives to increase services for library users.
"The Board has complete confidence that Mr. Veli is the right person to be the next CEO/Chief Librarian of the North Bay Public Library," said the Board Chair. “His extensive leadership experience will be of great benetit to our Library. We are delighted that someone with such excellent qualifications and passion for libraries has chosen to move to our community and be part of the future of the North Bay Public Library."
