In advance of the 25th anniversary of the Old Fashioned Christmas Walk Friday, November 22nd, DIA Manager Jeff Serran joined Mayor Al McDonald at North Bay City Hall today for a news conference aimed at putting residents at ease and restoring faith that Main Street and the downtown core is a safe place to be after Friday’s daylight homicide.
Both McDonald and Serran said the event was sad and tragic but was an isolated case where unfortunately mental illness was a huge factor in the incident.
McDonald says with one in every four Canadians suffering with some type of mental health issue it is important for residents to understand what this means for the community.
