Luring:  luring a child over the internet

The ongoing investigation  into  procuring and luring allegations ( Nov 7th press release) has identified two more potential female victims, age 14 and 12.

It is alleged that a North Bay man has been using the name of Jake Burton ; that he  he uses social media sites to contact and establish a relationships with young girls. He also targets those that are looking for a job or money such as babysitting ads by young girls.

Once the relationship is established, it is alleged that he offers drugs or money to the girls for sexual favours and offers to pick them up in his vehicle, a small dark grey 2013 4dr Kia.

Parents and care givers should be aware that young girls have been targeted and  may feel that they cannot come forth for fear of being in trouble or embarrassing their parents.

The North Bay Police believe there are more victims and we encourage any young person to talk to their parents and/or contact their local police agency.

We also ask that parents of young girls have conversations with their children about this occurrence as well as internet safety issues relating to sexual predators. D/Cst Helen Boissonneault is investigating and can be reached at 705-497-5585.
