Beaming with pride Ron Beauchesne accompanied his aunt to the Remembrance Day ceremonies Monday in the Bay to honour the memory of the man he was named after his Uncle Ronald Neil tribute McLean.

McLean died during the conflict in WWII and Beauchesne says there is not one Remembrance Day that goes by that he doesn’t think about the ultimate sacrifice his uncle made in order for him to have the life of freedoms he has enjoyed.

“Even every Remembrance Day that I am in I always think of my past family, family that are still alive and in the military it’s just something I had to do.”

Beauchesne says the tributes to his family members don’t end at Memorial Gardens.

“We’re actually going up to the two grave yards in North Bay a little later on to lay flags on all their graves and honour them, which is a part we do every Remembrance Day.”

Beauchesne says he would like to see more interaction with kids in the schools in order to drive home the importance of the day.

“Look at the freedom we have in this country and it’s because our men and women went to war so we weren’t taken over by radicles who would change our whole lifestyle,” he says.

“And here we are we’ve got a beautiful country and beautiful people in it.”
