The Ministry of Natural Resources North Bay District is advising area residents that a watershed conditions statement is in effect for the Pickerel River Watershed. Water levels and flows are predicted to increase in this area. This statement is in effect until Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.

A Colorado low is forecast to bring substantial rain (30-50mm) into the area Oct. 31. Flooding in low-lying areas is a possibility due to current high water and ground saturation levels.

Streams and rivers may also be dangerous with these conditions. MNR advises all residents to monitor increasing water levels and flows and exercise caution around lakeshores and riverbanks. Shorelines can be extremely unsafe.

MNR monitors water levels on a provincial basis through the Surface Water Monitoring Centre and provides flood advisories to municipalities. Local municipalities are responsible for flood response, and can request assistance from provincial agencies in flood emergencies.
