A 37 year old, River Valley man turned himself in to police after a Warrant was issued for his arrest in relation to sexual interference and Sexual Assault charges stemming for an August 8th investigation. He was kept in custody awaiting a Bail hearing.

On Oct. 18, a Theft complaint was received from a Verner resident stating that while he was hunting geese in a field, he heard his vehicle window break. As he returned to his truck, he observed a dark colored sedan leave the area. Police attended but could not locate the suspect vehicle. Missing from the vehicle was his wallet which contained approx. $100.

On Oct. 18, an Arthur St resident called the police to report that someone had broken into his pick up approx. 2 weeks before. The stolen items were described as a Garmin Nuvi GPS and a pair of prescription sunglasses. He didn’t call police at that time because he thought someone had borrowed the missing items. There are no suspects at this time.

On Oct. 20, a Break and Enter call was received stating that someone had broken into their hunt camp located on Dubuc Rd in Crystal Falls. Police attended and noticed that the culprit(s) had cut the lock off the gate and then forcefully broke into the camp. Once inside the thieves stole 3 long guns (30-06 Remington, .12 gauge Remington and a .410 bolt action), a Huskvarna chainsaw, a Honda generator, a black plastic gun case, an ATV gun boot and liquor. The investigation also revealed that the culprit(s) left with a 3 wheeler ATV. The Scenes Of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended the scene and was able to find foot and vehicle impressions from the crime scene. The investigation is ongoing.

An ongoing investigation resulted in three people charged with numerous offenses in relation to break-ins within the area of West Nipissing and neighboring jurisdictions. On Oct. 22, at approx. 6:30 AM officers conducted a traffic stop on Cache St in Cache Bay. The three occupants of the vehicle were found to be in possession of stolen items and break-in tools. Further investigation revealed that these three accused are suspected to be responsible for numerous offences in relation to Break and Enters. Police seized many stolen items within the residence of one of the accused. A 38 year old Cache Bay man was charged with numerous offences including Obstruct Peace Officer, Mischief, Possession of Break-In Instruments, Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained By Crime and 2 X Theft Under $5000and 1 count of Breach of Conditional Court Order. He was kept in custody awaiting a bail hearing. The other two co-accused were also charged with numerous charges and released on a Promise To Appear.

Two break and enter complaints were received within a day from the Tomiko Lake Rd area. Both residences had been broken into with numerous items missing including a generator and a television. A SOCO attended both locations to investigate. There is a possibility that the culprit(s) are responsible for the break-in on Dubuc Rd as well due to the fact that all these break-ins occurred within the same time frame and that they are all in the Crystal Falls area. Police are still investigating.
