848 participants take part in annual hospital runSunday, October 20, 2013 by: Kate AdamsNorth Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation
Today 848 participants of the 7th annual Our Hospital Walk Run helped raise over $118,500 for district communities’ hospital care needs.
The race routes take advantage of the unique landscape of our health centre location.
Participants chose between the hospital mile, 5km, 6km trail run or the 8km challenge.
Young children participate in the April & Friends Walk.
Century 21 Movers and Shakers are the 2013 Community Team Challenge winners and took home the coveted ‘Silver Bed Pan’ trophy. They are also the Spirit Award winners for showing the best enthusiasm throughout the event, winning the Silver Kidney Basin Award.
The Health Centre Team Challenge winners were the Diagnostic Imaging ‘Skeleton Crew’ who will now select something that represents their team to add to the hospital trophy.
Our Hospital Walk/Run helps improve the wellness of our community. Funds raised during this event support the Health Centre’s greatest needs. The Hospital has identified a state-of-the-art central fetal monitoring system for labour and delivery and a new sixbed youth and adolescent mental health unit and program as the greatest needs.
Race results and more information about the event are available at www.ourhospitalwalkrun.ca.
Next year’s Our Hospital Walk/Run is scheduled for October 19, 2014.
