City police offer a few tips in the event of a vehicle collisionWednesday, October 16, 2013 by: Kate AdamsNorth Bay Police Service
Every year the North Bay Police get calls from people who were involved in a long past vehicle collision that wasn’t reported to the police at the time.
The complaint is usually that the other person’s information is wrong, that they didn’t get any information, that the other party is being uncooperative or that they can’t find them.
If you are involved in a minor collision where there are no injuries, settling yourselves is an option, but if you decide on this path you should obtain the other party’s vehicle licence number, the insurance particulars, the drivers name, address, phone number and confirm that information by looking at their driver’s licence. Record the drivers licence number if possible. If the other party refuses to give information or attempts to leave, contact your local police agency immediately.
