The Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) can help with the cost of wood, propane and oil to heat a home. Grants of up to $3,000 are available to citizens of Nipissing District who qualify and who would otherwise be forced out of their homes. For example, if paying for heat means you can’t pay the rent, this grant may help prevent homelessness.

There is a limited amount of grant money available, and applicants must meet eligibilitycriteria.

Citizens applying for assistance through the CHPI fund will be screened for eligibility based on total household income.

Funding for this program is provided by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and is administered by the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board.

For more information, or to apply for this funding, please call 705-474-2151.

Cold winter months can be the most difficult, especially for people who can’t afford to heat their homes without giving up other necessities.
