Operation Impact, a national campaign to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world, took place this past Thanksgiving weekend.
The focus was on behaviours that put drivers, passengers, and other road users most at risk which include:
• Impaired driving
• distracted driving
• seatbelt use
• all aspects related to aggressive driving.
Operation Impact Results
The R.I.D.E. unit stopped 459 vehicles and issued two traffic warnings.
The officers on General patrol charged 19 drivers with a variety of offences that included 9 speeding and moving violations, 5 Fail to Yield offences, 1 drive with no insurance and 1 for driving while under suspension.
One driver was also charged with impaired driving.
A class G1 licence driver was charged with driving with over .o grams of alcohol, Driving between the hours of Midnight and 5 a.m., and failing to have an accompanying driver.
