Fedeli's expenses open open to the public

Constituents expect those who hold public office to be open and transparent and that means going beyond what is required, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

“To that end, I have posted more details about expenses and other financial information on my website and will continue to do so in the coming days,” Fedeli said.

Last week in the Ontario Legislature, Fedeli spoke in favour of Bill 108, a private member’s bill which would see information about members’ expenses posted online in a more transparent fashion.

“I think it’s timely. I think it’s important. I think it’s significant that we do that,” Fedeli said during debate on the bill.

Among the information that Fedeli has posted online will be copies of his annual filing to the province’s Integrity Commissioner, and historical financial information regarding past business dealings with the province.

“For example, my former company did significant marketing with Ontario Northland, Nipissing University and the Near North District School Board in the 1980s and 1990s,” Fedeli said.

“While I’m not obligated to post this information, I feel it’s important to do so in the interest of being open and honest.”

Fedeli has already been posting his Members’ Expenses as provided by the Legislative Assembly since last year. It can be found on his website at www.fedeli.com.
