The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police have investigated several car/deer collisions on the Highways. From September 27, 2013 to October 6, 2013 officers have investigated 5 collisions involving deer.
Police remind motorists to drive with caution and follow these safety tips.
•Use caution if driving at dawn and dusk, when deer are most active and visibility is poor
•The risk of deer/vehicle collisions is greatest during Autumn and early Winter
•Slow down when approaching deer standing on the side of the road. Deer may "bolt" or change direction at the last minute
•Deer often travel in groups, if you see one, expect more.
