This year, Northern Credit Union launched a new and exciting brand – True North Strong. Designed to evoke a sense of patriotism to the North, the brand reflects the pride of belonging to Northern, a credit union that keeps dollars in the North, supports local businesses and members, and benefits the many communities Northern calls home.

Now, Northern Credit Union is asking students from grades five to 12 ‘What Makes You True North Strong?’

Building on the success of previous calendar contests, students are invited to submit scanned or digital photographs of what they see as True North Strong in their communities.

“This year’s contest will allow our members to see the North through the eyes of our youth, which we hope will evoke a strong sense of pride and belonging to their community,” said Al Suraci, President and CEO of Northern Credit Union.

“With branches in 23 communities throughout the North, we are privileged to see first-hand the beauty and breadth of all that the North has to offer.”

This year’s prizes:

 Grand Prize: $1,000 RESP contributions and iPod Nanos for the winning elementary and secondary school photographers, along with a Canon Rebel Prize Pack for each winner’s school

 Second Prize: $500 RESP contributions and iPod Nanos for the runners-up in both the elementary and secondary school categories

Twenty-four drawings will be selected and featured in the 2014 Northern Kids Calendar, including the winners and runners-up.

The contest is open from September 3rd to November 1st, 2013. Votes will be collected from the time images are uploaded until the contest closes. Winners will be announced at the end of November, and calendars will be available in each Northern branch in mid-December.
