The Tiger gives Ride for Dad a boost

The Nipissing chapter of Ride for Dad had a great surprise Wednesday when the team at Giant Tiger North Bay presented them with a cheque from a store run fundraising effort that the Ride for Dad crew knew nothing about.

The store sold Ride for Dad decals to their customers in an effort to assist the group and in one short month they raised $806 for the cause.

Employee Brittany Bartley, who raised the most during the campaign, says she was pleasantly surprised with how giving her customers were when asked to support the effort.

“It’s really nice to see that because it affects so many people this and breast cancer so it’s really nice to see that everybody is working together to get rid of it.”

“All of the thanks go out to our customers and sales staff, they responded in a tremendous way,” states Store Manager Sean Wilson.

RFD member John Strang says they are very pleased to have the support of community partners like Giant Tiger not only for the funds raised, but also for the public education the campaigned fostered.

“Prostate cancer is a needless killer for men,” said Chopper Cameron, co-chair of the Nipissing chapter.

“The more the community is aware and educated about prostate cancer, the less chance there is to lose the men in our lives to this terrible disease. The Motorcycle Ride for Dad not only raises funds to fight this disease, but it also gives men and their families a reason to talk about it”.
