The North Bay Police as well as Shoppers Drug Mart have received complaints of a phone fraud where Shoppers Drug Mart customers are receiving calls from an automated calling system.

The customers are told that they have won the vacation contest and asks them to accept or decline. The customer is then asked to provide personal information including their credit card numbers. These calls are fraudulent.

This fraud has been complicated by the fact that there has been a legitimate Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix Summer Contest that closed Aug 11th.

This contest involves three $5000 prizes payable in the form of a cheque. The winners will be drawn on Sept 4th 2013. The legitimate contest has nothing to do with vacations.

Shoppers Drug Mart has supplied a phone number for inquiries. 1-800-746-7737.

The North Bay Police want to caution the public about giving personal or financial information to anyone where you didn’t initiate the call and know exactly who you are talking to.
