A crowd of 300 spectators cheered on Alternate Rock bands during the Summer in the Park concert Friday night. With a combination of punk, pop and electro rock music, Nightbox, X Ambassadors and Hey Ocean! all performed during Summer in the Park and blew concert fans away. Unfortunately, due to lightning and severe rainfall, event organizers were forced to cancel Friday night's headliner, Metric.

Fans were clearly disappointed with how the concert had ended as it is not every day that a prestigious band like Metric comes to the area.

Storm clouds rolled in from all directions before the show began and fans of all ages were rocking out and dancing -many of those fans were prepared to get wet but in the end, the event organizers determined the safety of everyone was paramount and closed the curtains as it was too great of a risk to continue performances.

Insurance was purchased in the event of weather cancellation and Friday night wristband holders can bring in their wristbands to city hall before August 16th for a $20.00 refund.

Concert goer Jennie Ruttan says receiving a refund for her wristband is more than fair.

"The fact that the city is giving a refund is a good idea, Ruttan stated.

“I’m glad we're getting a refund this year for the cancellation of the Metric concert."

Ruttan also said she wished the concert could have been rescheduled for another night so people could still see them perform, but the band had other engagements and was unable to stay.

Fans are hoping Metric will return in the near future for a makeup concert fortunately no other concerts were cancelled.
