Telephone fraud happening in the area

On the 29th July the North Bay Police received two separate complaints of persons receiving phone calls from an automated voice saying they are a special customer to a large retailer and they had potentially won a prize.

To claim the prize they were told to press #1 at which time they were asked for information about their credit cards.

These calls are designed to extract credit card and personal information to be used for fraudulent purposes.

The North Bay Police want to caution the public about giving any personal information to anyone you don’t know or where you did not initiate the contact yourself.
