The team at Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre could be taking some well-earned downtime after a tremendous 2012/2013 season that saw the outstanding productions of Oliver, Into the Woods and Romeo and Harriet, but no instead they put together a summer intensive workshop the ends with a big stage production.

For the past 8 days, novice and seasoned, young actors have learned the one act musical Aesop’s Foibles under the direction of staff members Jesse Beam, Nicole Glover, Cassandra Laperriere and Emma Funnell-Kononuk assisted by co-op and volunteer students Emily Hawton, Darren Summersby, Maggie Wolfe, Riley Beam and Garrett Ryan.

This one act, which is sure to pure fun, addresses the issue of a young Aesop, who he has a ton of characters (resentful Fox, the egomaniac Hare, the sluggish Tortoise, the zen-like Grasshopper) with stories happening inside his head, and the concern his parents have because he is talking to himself all the time. Fact is he has been living with and talking to these characters most of his life. It all comes to a head when his mother appeals to Zeus and Hera for help. They tell ‘Aesop's’ personal muse to help him channel it in a healthy way, however, the muse is overwhelmed by it all and in the end Aesop tells his stories to his masters who help him figure out the morals of his fables.
