Construction of Canadore’s new six-storey, 256-bed residence is set to begin later this week.

Canadore is expanding the scope of its partnership with Campus Living Centres, Canada’s leading owner and manager of student housing, to build its third apartment complex.

“This residence is the next phase of our student housing plan,” said Shawn Chorney, Vice-President of Student Services. “Both our domestic and international students have a very distinct lifestyle and different set of expectations than a few decades ago. By creating more comfortable and supportive living arrangements, we can attract more students to North Bay to expand on the $90 million annual economic impact the College brings to our local economy.”

Similar to the two existing towers, the new apartments will consist of two private bedrooms, as well as shared bathroom, kitchen and living space.

Approximately 60 per cent of Canadore’s students come from outside of the region, 20 per cent of full-time students live in residence and first year students are guaranteed a room. The new apartment is anticipated to help mitigate the region’s housing shortage and is slated to open its doors in September 2014.
