Recently the North Bay Police has received complaints about phone calls where the caller indicates that they are representing credit card companies and that credit card interest rates are automatically going up.

The reason for the call is to give the recipient the opportunity to prevent this from happening to their particular card. The recipient is then asked for their particulars and their card number so they can be flagged for no increase.

Credit card companies do not operate in this manner. This is a fraud designed to obtain personal information and credit card numbers.

The North Bay Police want to caution the public not to release any personal information or credit card information to anyone that that you did not contact yourself and know exactly who you are talking to.

Do not take anyone’s word about who they are unless you have confirmed their identity through your own sources.
