Re: Declaration of Emergency Callander Clean Up and Electrical Safety

Council and Staff wish to thank residents for their continued cooperation in ensuring that clean up and repairs stemming from the Severe Storm, which occurred on July 19, 2013, continue to proceed in a safe and efficient manner.

The Municipality of Callander continues to with Hydro One in order to restore power to remaining affected areas as soon as possible. In order to ensure Public Safety and to ensure that Hydro One staff are able to complete required work in a safe and efficient manner, individuals are asked to avoid areas where Hydro One is engaging in rock drilling to replace hydro poles. Please note that this required work results in extremely loud noises and restricted visibility due to dust and debris.

While waiting for power to be restored, individuals should ensure that they are only using Electrical Safety Authority approved Generators, which have been installed and inspected by a licenced professional. For further information please contact Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

Individuals are asked to refrain from burning any vegetative or other debris, as the restrictions contained within the Open Air Burning By-law No. 2005-983 remain in effect.

Further, individuals are advised to refrain from placing any debris on Municipal roads or sidewalks. The Municipality will provide details and protocols regarding removal and disposal of debris after the Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

If you require emergency assistance, please dial 911.
