Update from the Municipality of Callander

Re: Declaration of Emergency Callander Road Closures

Please note that due to fallen trees and downed hydro lines, which resulted from the Severe Storm which occurred on July 19, 2013, the following roads are closed to Local and Emergency traffic only:

• Main Street from Swale Street to the South Entrance to Callander; and
• King Street from Swale Street to Lansdowne; and
• Mill Street.

The Municipality of Callander is working with Hydro One in order to restore power to affected areas as soon as possible.

In order to ensure Public Safety and to ensure that Emergency Personnel and Municipal Staff are able to complete required work in a safe and efficient manner, individuals are asked to refrain from interfering with Hydro One as they work to reinstate power; as well Operations and Emergency Staff as they engage in removal of debris and clean up within the Municipality.

Further, individuals are advised to refrain from placing any debris on Municipal roads or sidewalks. The Municipality will provide details and protocols regarding removal and disposal of debris after the Declaration of Emergency for Callander has been removed.
