Starting Sunday, July 14, 2013, Giant Tiger will be hosting the “Fill-A-Bowl” Fundraiser for the gathering place. Shoppers will be asked to donate $2.00 at the cash in order to “fill a bowl” for the gathering place, North Bay’s Community Soup Kitchen.

Volunteers at the gathering place served a total of 2,340 meals to Neighbours-in-need throughout the month of June. Among the total meals served in June, 1,753 were served to adults (aged 25-60), 338 were served to young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 years of age and 216 were served to seniors. Eighteen meals were served to pre-schoolers and fifteen school-aged children under 16 were also served a hot, nutritious mid-day meal at the gathering place during the month of June.

Jill Clark, Executive Director, says, “We are delighted to partner with Giant Tiger staff and Manager, Sean Wilson, who have been supporters of the gathering place since the day they opened. In these difficult economic times, the community’s support is needed more than ever, as we serve an average of 110 diners a day.”

By making a $2.00 donation at the cash shoppers will help ensure that the gathering place can continue its mission of providing hot meals in a warm environment to neighbours in need.
