St. Luke student wins Young Authors Award

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board wishes to congratulate Katie MacDonell on being recognized as one of this year’s provincial winners of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) Young Authors Award.

Katie, a student of Sue Korosec’s Grade 7/8 class at St. Luke School, now has her story “Too Late” published in the 2013 Young Authors Award book.

“Katie is a wonderful writer who pours her heart into the pieces she produces,” said Korosec. “Too Late was about the loss of her grandmother and the lesson one learns through such hardships - to value the time she has with her loved ones. I encourage all students to pen their ideas to paper and enter as many writing contests as they can.”
